Faculty Spotlight~ Mr. Han Kim

Mr. Han Kim's journey into education began unexpectedly during his 8th-grade winter break. While his classmates struggled with textbook work, Mr. Kim thrived, solving all the math problems with ease. Impressed by his dedication, his teacher offered him the opportunity to tutor other students. This experience ignited a lifelong passion for teaching and shaping young minds.

Over the past ten years, Mr. Kim has taught in various countries, including Korea, the United States, Guatemala, China, Honduras, and now Taiwan. His expertise extends beyond traditional classroom settings, as he has tutored students from all walks of life, from developing students to CEOs.

At AST, Mr. Kim serves as both a teacher and a curriculum specialist. He leads classes in 8th-grade social studies, AP Psychology, Psychology, and AP Human Geography. Additionally, he uses his global experience to contribute to the school's academic programs. Mr. Kim believes that each class is a unique opportunity for students to grow and learn. He aims not only to impart academic knowledge but also to foster personal growth. Mr. Kim creates a safe and supportive learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore, make mistakes, and learn from their experiences.

Mr. Kim has found Taiwan to be a welcoming and supportive country. He appreciates the safety, helpfulness, and friendliness of the people. While he keeps his fluency in Chinese a secret from his students, it's clear that he has adapted well to his new home.

When he's not teaching, Mr. Kim enjoys spending time with his family and pursuing his hobbies, such as golf and video games. Despite his extensive travels, he considers Taiwan his favorite country to teach in. As Mr. Kim begins this new chapter at AST, both he and his students are excited about the opportunities ahead. With his passion for education, global experience, and student-centered approach, Mr. Kim is sure to make a positive impact on the AST community.

                                             

Mr. Han Kim的教育之路是在他八年級的寒假期間意外開始的，當他的同學們為作業而苦苦掙扎時，Mr. Kim表現出色，在寒假期間完成了所有數學問題。他的老師對他的能力印象深刻，為他提供了輔導其他學生的機會，這段經歷激發了他對教育、塑造學生思想的熱情。

在過去的十年裡，Mr. Kim曾在多個國家任教，包括韓國、美國、瓜地馬拉、中國、宏都拉斯，現在到了台灣。他的專業知識超越了傳統的課堂環境，他輔導過各行各業的學生，也教過執行長。

在 AST，Mr. Kim 既擔任教師又負責設計課程。他負責八年級社會、AP 心理學、心理學和 AP 人文地理學課程。此外，他還利用自己的全球經驗為學校的學術計畫做出貢獻。 Mr. Kim 認為，每節課都是學生成長和學習的獨特機會。他的目標不僅是傳授學術知識，而且還促進個人成長。創造了一個安全和支持性的學習環境，鼓勵學生探索、犯錯並從經驗中學習。

Mr. Kim發現台灣是一個熱情且友善的國家。他很喜歡台灣的安全、樂於助人且友善的人們。雖然他對學生們保守著自己會說流利中文的秘密，但顯然他已經適應了新環境。

閒暇時，Mr. Kim喜歡與家人共度時光並追求自己的愛好，例如打高爾夫和玩電子遊戲。儘管他去過不同國家教書，他認為台灣是他最喜歡的國家。憑藉對教育的熱情、全球經驗和以學生為中心的方法，Mr. Kim 一定會對 AST 社群產生正面的影響。
